Shine Bright Like A Diamond...Shaped Poem
Diamond poems look something like this:
Word
Word word
Word word word
Word word word word
Word word word

We worked on some today in class. The subject has to change to the opposite in the middle line. For instance (I wrote this):
Seed
Bland, tiny
Soaking, breaking, expanding
Pebble, egg, beauty, wonder
Growing, blooming, blossoming
Amazing, miraculous
Flower.
See? That particular one was more of a progression of a life cycle (kitten to cat, boy to man, etc) but most are opposites. Some kids wrote about things like girls as opposed to boys, or day and night. So naturally, I chose life...and death.
Life
Wonderful, miraculous
Breathing, living, laughing
Birthdays, weddings, morgues, funerals
Faltering, fading, dying
Common, depressing
Death
Yes. And on that note, why don't we talk about my new fish James Pond?
He's posed problems for the other fish. He thinks just because he gets to go on missions and blend in and drink (in the eloquent words of Nicki Minaj)"that henny, can I get that margarita on the rock-rock, can I get that salt all around that rim-rim-rim-rim" that he's better than the other fish and is 'the boss' of them. They've started a petition to kick him out of the tank. I've decided to let it pass. They can't really kick him out anyway. Not without feet.
