If you have ever seen a rodent scurrying about through your house,  but you aren't sure if it's a rat or a mouse, here are some tips to help determine which it is: Rats are MUCH bigger than mice, and if cornered, it may jump and attack to escape. Mice, however, will back into the corner, for they are much more timid. Rats and mice are never in the same area together. The rats would eat the mice if they knew that the mice were probably going to make it harder to find food. So if mice are in the house, rats probably aren't, and vice versa. The best way to get rid of rodents is to eliminate their food source. If they have no food, they will probably move to a different location ( a field , the woods, some other house, etc.) Here is a picture of a rat: And here is one of a mouse: I would much rather have a mouse. In China, for 2000 years, crickets have been most popular for two things: their song, and cricket fighting. From 500 B.C. to 618 A.D., people only appreciated the crickets song. During the Tang dynasty, people kept the crickets in cages to listen to their tune under captivity.   Crickets were also used for gambling. And some actually kept dozens of little pots, each of which held one small cricket. Then, during the Song dynasty, cricket fighting became a very popular sport. The typical diet of a cricket being prepared to fight is cooked rice, flies, and mosquitoes. After several weeks of this, the cricket is ready to fight. Cricket fighting is like dogfighting and bullfighting. Some who believe that it is cruel may find it wrong to force an animal to fight another of its kind. So, I'm supposed to use this blog for homework now. I have to write my answers to these questions for "A Cricket In Times Square": Would you like a cricket for a pet? Why? Have you fed an animal out of your hand before? Describe the experience. Describe a trip to a new place that you have taken.  Well, NO, I would NOT like a cricket for a pet!! I really don't think they were meant to be pets. Why else would they have been put out in the wild in the first place? I have fed an animal out of my hand. I think it was either a donkey or a goat, but I did it while in Nebraska. Their tongues felt all slimy! I have also fed my dog out of my hand, but he got  too excited and almost bit my hand!!
